Optimum Resource began with the release of our first Stickybear educational titles in 1980. At that time, we were distributed by Weekly Reader Family Software, a Xerox company. Later, we left Weekly Reader and began marketing on our own. Our programs were enthusiastically received and have been helping teachers and students for 30 years. Richard Hefter, our founder and president, whose books for children, including the Sweet Pickles, Strawberry and Shufflebooks series, number more than 50 million in print, created the Stickybear character, in 1979, and his first appearance was in books. While pottering in the warehouse, we recently came across a quantity of one of the first of Hefter's books featuring Stickybear. One Bear, Two Bears is a delightful hardbound counting book, full of bears and numbers. It was published in 1980, the same year Optimum Resource began. These books, now out of print, are in perfect unread condition and you can get one, signed by Hefter, with a small signature drawing of Stickybear.
